Downton Abbey actor Hugh Bonneville and his wife Lucinda Williams have separated after being married for 25 years. A spokesperson for Hugh Bonneville confirmed the news to The Sun, saying, “I can confirm that Hugh Bonneville and Lulu Williams have separated.”
The couple got married in 1998 and had a son named Felix shortly after. On their 20th wedding anniversary, they renewed their vows at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
Although Hugh, who is 59 years old, usually keeps his family life private, he once shared some advice on being a parent during an interview with Parents magazine.
He said that he thinks the most important thing is not to make your child do things you couldn’t do or wanted to do, like playing the piano or something. Another great piece of advice someone gave him when his son was about to be born was, ‘Hold him close, and let him fly.’
Hugh at his co-star Michelle Dockery’s wedding
The news of Hugh and Lulu’s separation follows Hugh’s attendance at his co-star Michelle Dockery’s wedding in London. Hugh, known for his role as Lord Grantham in Downton Abbey, appeared as a proud father during the celebration.
For the wedding, Hugh wore an off-white suit with a bright blue silk tie. He was photographed with Jim Carter, who played his loyal butler, Carson, on the show.
Several other Downton Abbey cast members were also present at Michelle Dockery’s wedding. Laura Carmichael, who portrayed Michelle’s on-screen sister, Lady Edith Crawley, was a bridesmaid and wore a lovely sea-green gown that matched Michelle’s Emilia Wickstead white satin wedding dress.
Joanne Froggatt, who played Anna Bates in the series, attended the wedding in a stylish teal-hued maxi dress with a fitted white linen blazer from Topshop and white stilettos. She completed her look with a Manolo Blahnik clutch adorned with large white polka-dots.
In addition to Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, Lily James, Elizabeth McGovern, and other celebrities attended the wedding, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for Fleabag and Indiana Jones, and Lesley Manville from The Crown.
